                    What's New Since The Initial Release
                          Of The WP Booklet System

February 1, 1994 (Version 2.40):
  * Edited all macros to provide international support.
  * Greatly enhanced the installation procedure.  Now, with
      ANSWER.COM, INSTALL.BAT can prompt the user to perform a
      custom installation, if necessary.
  * Beefed up SETPATH.WPM to more reliably create the activation macro
      specified by the user.
  * Changed suggested filename extension from FIN to BKL.
  * Added routine to BOOKLET.WPM to confirm the WordPerfect program is
      new enough to support the macro commands used by WP Booklet.
  * Made small changes in several places to improve visual appearance.
  * Utilized the new VENDINFO.DIZ standard.
  * Changed contact information to reflect our new address.

July 1, 1993 (Version 2.3):
  * Fixed bug in _ADDPR.WPM which prevented the proper creation of
      the .DEF file for your printer.  This bug would only surface
      if you had Long Display active in List Files.
  * Installed automated wirly gig routine.
  * Hid cursor where possible.
  * Updated SETPATH macro to upgrade from version 2.2.
  * Updated SETPATH macro so it will read the current _BKLTSET file,
      if present.  This will preserve the current list of printers
      and their corresponding list of .DEF files.
  * Made internal changes to the way some variables are defined.  This
      will now allow an unlimited numbers of printers to be handled at
      the same time by WP Booklet.
  * Added {Page Up} and {Page Down} to the keystroke available when
      selecting another printer.
  * Updated the INSTALL batch file.

June 20, 1993 (Version 2.2):
  * Fixed bug in the SETPATH macro so it will handle Long Display in
      List Files.  This bug prevented the activation macro from being
      properly created on systems where Long Display was active in
      List Files.
  * Removed the flashing box, intended to highlight the currently
      active printers .PRS file, from the screen prompting for the
      printer's .PRS filename.  On some systems the flashing box would
      overwrite the filename.
  * Corrected small bug in BOOKLET which would never cause a problem
      or even be noticed but needed to be corrected for future
      compatibility.
  * Updated SETPATH macro to upgrade from version 2.1.  All .DEF files
      found in \WPBKLT21 (if present) are moved to \WPBKLT22.  All other
      files in \WPBKLT21 are then deleted, if user confirms the delete.
  * Edited _CONVERT macro so it will more reliably create WORKFILE.000.
  * Fixed small bug in _ADDPR so it would properly create the filename
      for the DEF files.
  * Fixed small display bug in _SPECIAL.WPM.

May 29, 1993 (Version 2.1):
  * Changed the beginning character for most of the macros from "»"
      (ASCII 175) to "_" (underscore) to distinguish version 2.1 files
      from those of earlier versions and to make the macros compatible
      with High Sierra Format (the standard format for all CD ROM
      products) and to insure they will not conflict with some networks
      (Particularly Novel Network 2.15).  I also removed the "!"
      character from the filenames of others files, also to make them
      compatible as well.
  * Added INSTALL.BAT to the collection to automate the process of
      installing WP Booklet.  It will create a directory to put the
      files into, will load WordPerfect and run the SETPATH.WPM which
      will record the path to the macros and will also create a special
      macro to lauch WP Booklet with.
  * Updated SETPATH.WPM so it creates the macro _BKLTSET.WPM.  This is
      the macro which will hold the path to the files comprising WP
      Booklet as well as other important information needed for the
      system to operate on your system.  It will also create a macro
      for you to use in starting WP Booklet.
  * The "Main Menu" of the system has been updated, enlarged and
      enhanced.  The "Convert" option has been renamed to "Rebuild".  The
      reason for this change will be more evident to registered users.
      Information now displayed at the bottom of the screen include the
      users registration number (the unregistered version flashes
      "Unregistered"), the currently active printer and the name of the
      file currently being edited.  In the lower right hand corner a brief
      message is now displayed saying either "The current document IS NOT
      ready for conversion" or "The current document MAY BE ready for
      conversion."
  * Added code to shorten the current document name if the path was to
      long to display on screen.
  * Added support for multiple printers.  Now all Booklet Paper
      Definitions are stored in separate .DEF files.  The name of the
      .DEF file will be similar to the printers .PRS file.  The file
      _BOOKLET.TMP is the template used to create the .DEF file for
      each printer.
  * Other small changes were made to _BOOKLET.TMP.  This again
      necessitates an upgrading from previous versions of the system.
      Thus, _UPGRADE.WPM has been created to automate the process of
      upgrading the .DEF file from previous version of WP Booklet to
      that needed for version 2.1.
  * Added the option to Change Printers from the "Booklet Paper
      Definitions" screen.  You merely need to cursor to the appropriate
      printer and press ENTER to change to that printer.
  * Support has been added for additional booklet sizes.  Standard,
      Legal, A3, A4, A5, US Government, Half Standard and Half Legal
      sizes are now supported.
  * Numbers have been added to most of the options in the system to
      allow for better compatibility with those using foreign languages.
  * An information screen has been added for the unregistered version.
      It is displayed when you exit the system.
  * Support has been added for New Page Numbering codes in the text of
      your document itself.  If a New Page Number code is found during the
      rebuilding process the current page numbering scheme is saved in the
      file _BOOKLET.WRK.  After the rebuilding process has completed, that
      information is retrieved and the page numbering scheme is restored
      to the booklet version of your document.
  * The routine to automate Page Numbering codes has been updated and
      enhanced.  The wording at the top of the screen was changed to
      reflect that Page Number Style and Page Number Position codes are
      the ones which need to be in Document Initial Codes.  Some of the
      code driving the Style and Position routines were updated to make
      the process both easier for the end user and less likely to cause
      a crash.
  * The routine to save your document before rebuilding into a booklet
      has been greatly improved.  If you use Long Document Names the
      process now is much easier to deal with.  You also now have the
      option to try a different name if you find the name you entered
      already exists on disk.
  * The "Rebuilding Document Into A Booklet" screen has been much
      improved.  Toward the bottom of the screen the word "Working" is
      now displayed during the rebuilding process.  Several specific bits
      of information will be displayed next to it as those functions are
      carried out.  Even on long documents the user will know what's
      going on at all times.
  * Added several codes to be checked for at the beginning of the
      rebuilding process.  Paper Size/Type, Endnotes, Outline, Tables,
      Open Styles, Headers and Footers are all checked for.  If found,
      appropriate messages are printed on screen.
  * Added Paired Styles to the list of codes checked for at the page
      breaks.
  * Added to option to either add a blank page to the start of the
      document or proceed without adding any blank pages when the first
      page of the document is determined to be Even.
  * Added support for all types of Indent codes spanning the page
      breaks.
  * Added several codes to the list of codes "anchored" at the start
      of each page.  Additional codes added are Justification codes,
      option and new number codes for all types of Graphic Boxes (as
      needed) and Footnotes.
  * Added code to make certain the proper printer is chosen in the
      alternate document screen before the pages are copied over to it.
  * Added code to copy the Initial Base Font setting to the new booklet.
  * Tried to improve the use of Comments by creating them in the other
      document screen and block moving them to their proper place.
  * Changed all keystrokes for WordPerfect features from letters to
      numbers.  This should provide compatibility for oversees users.
  * Besides all the changes listed above, numerous changes have been
      made to the code of just about every macro in the system.  In
      fact, several new macros were created and others were divided
      into multiple macros to keep down the size of the macros.  I
      learn something new everyday which will make the code more
      reliable and compact.  All these changes are just to numerous to
      list individually.

June 24, 1992 (Version 2.0):
  * Automated the Setup proceedure.  It is no longer necessary for you
      to edit the macro to specify the path to the subdirectory
      containing your macros.  When you activate the system for the
      first time, an error will occur after which you will be prompted
      for the path to your macros.  WordPerfect's "Location of Files"
      screen is displayed for you so there is no need to jot down the
      path prior to running the WP Booklet System.  A new macro to the
      system, »SETPATH, takes care of this procedure.
  * Replaced BOOKLET.DEF, the file containing a list of the defined
      Booklet Paper Definitions.  On some systems a couple of lines
      would "wrap" making a complete mess of things.  The problem was
      caused by the size font which was active.  I reduced the size of
      the font and margins. Also changed the layout of the file, moving
      the header section to the macro itself.
      NOTE:  Because of these changes, earlier versions of BOOKLET.DEF
      are NOT compatible with version 2.0.
  * Changed the name of all the macros, except for BOOKLET.WPM, by
      adding "»" at the beginning of the name.  This has been done to
      prevent conflicts with other macros you may have with similar
      names (such as CONVERT or CREATE).
  * Fixed problems with the Delete and Insert function on the "Booklet
      Paper Definitions" screen.  The system was accepting invalid
      responses. It would also refuse to Delete or Insert any definition
      if the first one had been deleted.
  * Fixed bug found in the CREATE macro which would only show up if you
      tried to set the Bin number.  This bug was never reported.
  * Fixed bug in the CONVERT macro.  If the number of pages in your
      original was not a multiple of four, blank pages were added.  If
      2 or 3 blank pages were needed, 1 was added to the start of the
      document.  This approach was wrong since it forced Odd numbered
      pages to be printed on the left rather than on the Right which is
      the standard.  The bug has been fixed and a routine has been added
      to make certain Odd numbered pages appear on the Right according
      to the commonly accepted standard.
  * Fixed problem found when working with a blank document screen.  If
      you inserted a Booklet Paper Definition into a blank document screen
      and then attempted to Retrieve an existing document into that screen,
      the Initial Codes of the incoming document would overwrite the
      Initial Codes of the blank document screen.  By adding a comment to
      the blank document screen this problem has been fixed.
  * Changed method used to build the pages of the booklet version of your
      document from {Block Move} to {Block Copy}.  The former method, used
      in earlier releases, would allow the original document, in some
      cases, to be reformated in the middle of conversion.  The resulting
      booklets were not accurate.  The new method works fine.
  * Added support for those using Long Document Names.
  * Enhanced the program to display a report on screen during the process
      of converting into a booklet.  It is now much more informative than
      before.
  * Added a Comment to the booklet version of your document showing the
      page numbers of the document in the order they will be printed.  The
      page numbers in the Comment will look something like this for an 8
      page booklet:
                  8,1 -- 2,7
                  6,3 -- 4,5
      This information will be useful when you must reprint a single sheet
      for the booklet and it will also help you know which sheets are to be
      paired up at the copier.  The documentation file has extensive
      instructions on how to use these numbers.
  * Support has been added for those using something other than inches
      for the Units of Measure.  This compatibility is achieved by simply
      adding an "i" to the end of all data used to build the paper
      definition. WordPerfect will then automatically convert to the Units
      of Measure you are using.
      Even with this added support, all margin settings still MUST be
      entered in inches (whether fraction or decimal format).
  * Added routines to search the entire document for Page Size/Type codes
      as well as New Page Number codes.  These are not allowed in the
      document itself, except for New Page Number codes added by the WP
      Booklet System at time of conversion into a booklet.
  * Added a system to keep a log about particular paper definitions.
      The date and time the definition was created is stored for each paper
      definition.  Each time it is used, that is, Inserted into a document,
      the log is updated to reflect the filename the definition was
      inserted into as well as the date and time it was inserted.
  * Enhanced the Delete function, from the "Booklet Paper Definitions"
      screen, to show you the log for the particular definition you want to
      delete.  This information may cause you to change your mind about
      deleting it, seeing which files it has been used in.
  * Added option to the "Booklet Paper Definitions" screen to view the log
      for a particular paper definition.  It is option #4 (View).
  * Added option to the "Booklet Paper Definitions" screen to more easily
      return to the Main Menu of the System.  Cancel (F1) has always
      returned you to the Main Menu but now option #5 (Main Menu) will also
      return you to the Main Menu.
  * Added the ability to work with Page Numbers.  It is option #3 (Work
      with Page Numbers), on the "Main Menu".  These functions allow you to
      reset the starting page number, define a page numbering style, and
      specify where the page number is to be positioned on the page.  These
      functions have been automated to insure the codes are placed in
      Document Initial Codes.
  * Added support for two additional booklet sizes.  Sizes now supported
      include:
      Standard           5.5" x 8.5"   (11" x 8½" folded)
      Legal                7" x 8.5"   (14" x 8½" folded)
      Half Standard     4.25" x 5.5"   (2 on 8½" x 11", cut, then folded)
      Half Legal        4.25" x 7"     (2 on 8½" x 14", cut, then folded)
  * Added an option to the "Adding Booklet Paper Definition: Definition
      Parameters" screen so you can be prompted at print time.  Previous
      versions would automatically prompt you for paper only if you had
      selected "Manual" as the Location of Paper.  Now YOU make the choice
      about being prompted or not.  One exception, however.  If you are
      working on one of the new booklet sizes, Half Standard or Half Legal,
      you will automatically be prompted for paper at print time.  This is
      due to the way in which these booklet sizes must be printed.
  * Added the following options to the bottom of the "Adding Booklet Paper
      Definition: Definition Parameters" screen:
         Re-enter above "P"arameters; "A"bort; Pro"c"eed: C

       If you see you have made mistakes in entering the parameters for the
      definition, you can simply press "P" to start over.  If you want to
      abort the definition, simply press "A".  By pressing either "C" or
      the ENTER key, you proceed to create the definition.
  * Added a unique title for as many screens in the system as possible.
      This should make the documentation file easier to follow.
  * Added several codes to the list added at the start of each page during
      conversion into a booklet.  Refer to the documentation file for a
      complete list of these codes and explanation for their placement at
      the page breaks.
  * Added at least a limited degree of support for those with color
      monitors.

April 27, 1992 (Version 1.1):
  * Fixed bug in the routine to delete an existing definition which
      had slipped by earlier tests.
  * Cleaned up one of the search routines to make it more concise
      and slightly faster.
  * Removed most comments from the macros to make the macros
      smaller.
  * Made small cosmetic changes to some parts of the system.
  * Updated documentation file to include hints on the use of Graphic
      Boxes.  Also tried to improve the printed appearance of the
      documentation file.
  * Fixed bug in documentation (left out address to send registration!).
  * Created separate file for Registration Form.
  * Created separate file for Version History.
